이튼 센터(The Eaton Center)는 캐나다 온타리오 주 토론토에 위치한 백화점이다. 토론토 쇼핑의 중심지로 영 스트리트(Yonge St.)와 던다스 스트리트(Dundas St.), 퀸 스트리트(Queen St.)에 면해있다. 1977년에 완공되었으며 시어스(Sears) 백화점 외에도 350개 이상의 점포가 들어있다. 패션, 잡화는 물론 서점, 레코드샵, 초콜릿 전문점, 은행, 극장, 레스토랑 등이 있어 거의 대부분의 일을 이곳에서 처리할 수 있다. 1991년 11월에는 459개의 객실을 보유한 토론토 메리어트 이튼 센터 호텔이 문을 열었다. 유리 천장이 있어 밝고 쾌적하며 휴식을 취하기에도 좋다. 1층에는 관광 안내소도 있다. 주차장은 1,633대를 수용할 수 있다.

The Toronto Eaton Centre is a shopping mall and office complex in downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada, named after the now-defunct Eaton’s department store chain that once anchored it. In terms of the number of visitors, the shopping mall is Toronto’s top tourist attraction, with around one million visitors per week. The Eaton Centre is bounded by Yonge Street on the east, Queen Street West on the south, Dundas Street West on the north, and to the west by James Street and Trinity Square. Its interior passages also form part of Toronto’s PATH underground pedestrian network, and the centre is served by two Toronto subway stations: Dundas and Queen. The complex also contains three office buildings (at 20 Queen Street West, 250 Yonge Street and 1 Dundas Street West) and the Ryerson University Ted Rogers School of Management. Additionally, the Eaton Centre is linked to a 17-storey Marriott hotel, and to Canada’s largest store, the flagship location of The Bay department store chain.

여행 후기

던다스역과 쇼핑센터가 연결되어서 찾아가기는 정말 쉽다. 쇼핑을 좋아하는 사람이라면 좋아할 만한 장소로 항상 사람들로 붐빈다. 쇼핑센터 지하에는 다국적 음식점들이 있어, 다양한 나라의 음식들을 맛 볼 수 있다. 그러나 2012년 6월 2일 이튼센터 지하 음식점에서 총기 사건이 발생하여 1명이 사망하고 7명이 부상자가 발생했다. 이외에도 토론토에서는 매달 총기사건이 발생하고 있다. 이튼센터에서 버스로 10분 정도 거리에 떨어진 리틀 이태리 거리에서 한 남자가 음식점에 앉아 있는 한 남자를 권총으로 살해한 사건도 있었고 이 사건 뒤 일주일 후 어느 한 파티장에서 참가잘들끼리 총격전을 벌여 2명이 사망하고 19명이 다쳤다. 토론토 점점 살기 무서워지고 있다.
